Frequently asked questions about the Compatibility Detector date game
Published Updated
Here are answers to the main questions about Compatibility Detector: who it's for, how much time it takes, how to play and whether you have to finish the whole game.
How long does a game take?
The main journey takes about 1½–2 hours.
With extra cards and challenges, your date can easily last 3–5 hours.
You don't have to complete all 7 chapters. You decide when to stop.
Who is Compatibility Detector for?
The game works for:
- a first date or one of your early dates;
- people who are just starting to get to know each other;
- couples who have been together for a long time;
- evenings when you want to try something different together;
- even a date that's hit a bit of a dead end and needs a fresh spark.
Can we play on a first date?
Yes.
The game deliberately starts with lighter questions, humour and simple challenges. The conversation deepens gradually, so nobody asks you to share your deepest secrets five minutes in.
Is it just questions for couples?
No.
Questions are only one part of the game. Compatibility Detector also has challenges, mini-games, guessing, choices, things to do together and extra cards.
That makes it more of a plan for a date than a standard list of questions.
Do I need to install an app?
No.
The online version works right on the website from your phone.
Do I need to register?
To get a feel for the game, just open the website.
Full access after purchase may require you to sign in or confirm your access — everything happens right on the site.
Can we try the game for free?
Yes. You can try the beginning of the game and see how the cards and the format work before buying full access.
Can we skip challenges?
Of course.
You can skip any question or challenge if either of you doesn't like it, or it simply doesn't fit the situation.
The game's job is to make your date better, not make anyone do something they don't want to do.
Do we have to finish all 7 chapters?
No.
Seven chapters make up the full journey, but they aren't a compulsory programme for the evening. You can stop after any chapter or keep going if you're both enjoying it.
Can we play without a phone?
Yes.
There's a printed edition of Compatibility Detector with real cards for that.
It's especially handy at home, on a trip or whenever you want to put your phones away for the whole date.
Why is the game 18+?
As you progress, the topics and challenges become more adult and personal.
That's why the full version is for adults. The beginning is much lighter, with a focus on getting to know each other, humour and conversation.
How do I pay for the game?
You can pay for online access by bank card right on the website.
Once payment succeeds, you'll have access to the version you've chosen.
Can I get a refund?
Refund conditions depend on the version you bought and are set out in the purchase terms on the website.
If there's a payment error or a technical problem with access, contact support and we'll look into your case.
Can we play if we've been together for a long time?
Yes.
Some of the early challenges will be easier, but later topics and game mechanics can help you see even someone you've known for years in a slightly different light.
Is this a compatibility test?
No.
We don't give you a compatibility percentage or decide whether you're right for each other.
The name Compatibility Detector is more about the experience itself: where your answers match, how you surprise each other and what happens between you over the course of the evening.
