How the Compatibility Detector date game works
Published Updated
Compatibility Detector is a game for dates and couples that helps you start an interesting conversation, get to know each other better and stop spending the evening wondering, “What do we talk about now?”
Inside are hundreds of questions, challenges, mini-games and unexpected twists. But this isn't just a huge stack of cards. The game unfolds like a story: two people gradually move from getting acquainted and feeling that first attraction towards trust, emotional intimacy and bolder moments.
How to play
The game is for two people.
Cards for him and for her take turns. You don't need to choose questions or work out what to do next — just open the first card and keep going.
The game is divided into 7 chapters. It starts with light conversation, humour and getting to know each other. Gradually, more personal questions, things to do together, mini-games and challenges help you get a better feel for each other.
And you don't have to finish all seven chapters in one evening. You can stop whenever you like, or keep going with extra cards.
For a first date — and for couples who have been together for years
On a first date, the game helps get past awkward silences and gives you something to talk about without turning the evening into an interview.
If you've been together for a long time, the aim is different: break out of your routine, be playful with each other again, have a laugh and discover something unexpected about someone you thought you knew inside out.
That makes it a first-date game, a game for couples and a way to spend an unusual evening together, all in one.
Not 300 questions in a row
We deliberately set out to make more than another list of “100 questions to get to know your partner”.
Sometimes a good question really does bring you closer. But if you spend the whole evening sitting and answering increasingly serious questions, a date can quickly start to feel like a psychological interview.
That's why conversations in Compatibility Detector keep switching to humour, mini-games, guessing, little challenges, choices and things to do together.
You get to know each other more deeply while still playing a game and enjoying a date.
Online or with real cards
You can start right on your phone — there's nothing to install.
There's also a printed card edition of Compatibility Detector. Take it to a restaurant, play at home, bring it on a trip or give it to a couple as a gift.
The format changes, but the idea stays the same: to do more than ask each other questions, and share an evening worth remembering.
